Researcher and professor Mat Dryhurst, video artists duo Los Voluble, the Galician Christian García Bello or digital activists ¥€$$i Perse, among the participants
On September the 19th, the Cidade da Cultura (Santiago de Compostela) will host the only activity that WOS will carry out this year, which will be developed in a hybrid format and will be streamed online
WOS TALKS x FEST GALICIA: FUTURO_PRESENTE
WOS Festival, which last May decided to cancel its edition due to the situation triggered by the coronavirus, announces instead WOS Talks x Fest Galicia: Futuro_Presente, an event aimed at redefining, reimagining and reinventing this new forced reality. FUTURO_PRESENTE was born as a program of talks around the knowledge of the future in the present time, addressing cross-cutting issues that reach beyond music or the arts: social management, politics or our implicit relationship with digital data and environments. The program consists of three talks: Redefine our models, Redefine our communities and Redefine our digital self.
MAT DRYHURST WILL OPEN THE DAY, WHICH WILL BE DEVELOPED IN HYBRID FORMAT
The event will take place on September 19 from 16 h. and will have a hybrid format: it can be enjoyed both in person in the Cidade da Cultura – complying with all measures of social distance and protection – as well as online. In addition, WOS Talks x Fest Galicia will have the presence of the American teacher, artist and researcher Mat Dryhurst, who will open the day with a short interview that will serve as an introduction to the three round tables, where a cast of academics, artists, communicators or creators will try to redefine the models, communities or the digital self in this new reality that has so determined the cultural industry.
SUSO SÁIZ AND YUGEN KALA, FUTURE AND PRESENT OF CUTTING-EDGE ELECTRONICS
After the talk program, the day will also host two musical performances at the Cidade da Cultura facilities. Legendary musician and producer Suso Saiz will be responsible for representing the present of Spanish avant-garde electronic music; while the very young Galician Yugen Kala will show that the genre enjoys a promising future with an ambient DJ Set specially prepared for the occasion.
All activities will be free of charge, respecting social distance and security protocols. Those interested in attending will have to pre-download an invitation on the website of the Cidade da Cultura.
With this hybrid and reduced format, the Compostelan promoter WORK ON SUNDAY not only wants to stop and reflect on the dizzying changes that our society has undergone in a transversal way but also to guess what role culture and its actors play in this new reality. The event has the support of Fest Galicia, regular sponsor of the festival, and the Centro do Empredemento de la Cidade da Cultura, a regular contributor to this programming area and who will also host the entire day in its facilities, guaranteeing its safe development for both public and artists, speakers and workers.
