KODE9 / UK
Originally from Glasgow, but based in South London, Steve Goodman started the record label Hyperdub in 2004, infamous for hosting artists such as Burial, Laurel Halo, Lee Gamble or Dean Blunt among many others. He has recorded two albums of his own with the vocalist The Spaceape – ‘Memories of Future’ (2006) and ‘Black Sun’ (2010) – and a solo album, ‘Nothing’ (2015). He has also compiled several DJ mix compilations, and released tracks on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label, Soul Jazz and Rinse and remixed for Lee Scratch Perry for On U Sound, the Junior Boys for Domino or Battles for Warp.
As a DJ, Kode9 vibrates parts other DJs can only dream of. His early DJ sets and radio shows helped spread the South London sound internationally in the 2000s and his sets now weave together an unpredictable, bass heavy mix drawing musically from further afield. He currently runs the monthly club nights Ø at Corsica Studios in South London.
