CV & JAB / BE
Christina Vantzou is an artist of Greek descent who has been exploring sound and researching in various visual formats for more than a decade. She has published in Kranky Records four albums with a filmic face that have received unanimous critical acclaim, both with regard to audio and visual elements. Together with John Also Bennett, American musician, composer and sound engineer, he forms the CV & JAB duo. Bennett mainly uses synthesizers and acoustic instruments such as flute or piano, and in addition to his solo work as a composer and performer he is a member of other formations such as Forma or Seabat.
The duo has published “Thoughts of a Dot as It Travels a Surface” (Shelter Press) in 2018, a collection of vibrations, abstract strings and field recordings linked with a hallucinatory logic that moves seamlessly between memorable themes and nebulous improvisation. But it also has a specific background: Vantzou and Bennett based their work on a 90-meter-long mural made by the plastic artist Zin Taylor.
