CHRISTINA VANTZOU / USA
Mathematician and artist Christina Vantzou has spent more than a decade exploring both composition and sound as well as expression through various visual formats. After being part of the audiovisual duo The Dead Texan, she has published on Kranky Records four albums titled with a consecutive numbering composed by a combination of sound and visual landscapes. For her last length, ‘No. 4 ‘(Kranky, 2018), a dense and wrapping work developed by its author along two years, Vantzou recorded various instruments, including vibraphones, gongs, bells, marimba, harp and synthesizers. Her live performances, in which she usually incorporates collaborators and diverse formations, stimulate the flowering of mutations in her compositions. Vantzou’s work has received unanimous recognition from critics, both for the audio and for the visual elements.
